Description

Forsena is a magical continent where a mysterious power called Mana emanates from the ground. Since ancient times, people have used this power to summon monsters from another world and use them in battle. However, not everyone is able to use this ability. Only a privileged few are born with this talent; they are called Rune Knights. You are to become the lord of one country, accompanied by some of the Rune Knights. It is up to you to save the continent of Forsena and return peace to the land.

Description

Claude Kenni is a young man who recently joined the Earth Federation, following the steps of his father. A strange energy has been spotted somewhere on a distant planet, and Claude and his father go there to investigate the matter. However, Claude gets sucked into a portal and ends up on a mysterious planet, in the middle of jungle. He sees a young girl threatened by a ferocious beast...

This young girl is Rena Lanford, an inhabitant of the planet (you can also start playing the game from her perspective). She likes going to the Shingo Forest to take a break from the world. But now she went a bit too far, and danger is ahead... but the two heroes finally meet and together continue the investigation.

Star Ocean: The Second Story is a RPG that contains some original gameplay elements. Combat takes place in an arena that allows your fighters to chase down or run away from enemies, as well as unleash special moves that damage any enemies in a large area of effect. You can learn various skills during the game, and become an expert alchemist, blacksmith, scientist, etc. You will be able to produce your own items (like for example making armor from iron ore if you have the appropriate skill). Another unique feature of the Star Ocean series is the so-called "Private Actions". You can talk to your party members and conquer their sympathies (so that they will fight better), or make them angry at you. The games has eighty slightly different endings that depend on your behavior to your comrades throughout the game.

Dragon Quest Monsters 1+2 (JP)(PSX)(Mediafire)

Description

The gameplay for both games are fairly consistent and similar to the original versions. The player controls a human character who controls a team of monsters. By using the monsters in battle against other monsters, the players' team is awarded experience points and eventually will level up. Upon leveling up, a monster's stats will increase and it may learn skills or spells.

The player can catch wild monsters and add them to the team. By feeding a wild monster meat, the chances of a monster joining the party after the battle rises greatly. Monsters can also be bred to create new, stronger monsters. The parent monsters disappear afterwards, but the offspring learns the skills of both parents.

There are a few differences in the gameplay in Dragon Quest Monsters 2 compared to the Game Boy Color version. The Tiny Medal system is different and the wandering trainers are much harder to encounter.

STORY

In Dragon Quest Monsters, the player follows the adventures of Terry as he's transported to the kingdom of Taiju to become a Master Monster Trainer, win the Starry Night Tournament, and rescue his sister Mileyu.

In Dragon Quest Monsters 2, the player takes on the role of either Ruka or Iru as they travel to the island of Marta to open a monster farm with their parents. They will have to train their monster teams to acquire magic keys that unlock portals to other worlds. There they will gather items to plug Marta's hole and stop it from sinking into the sea.

A young boy from the town Kyaro, adopted and raised by a martial artist together with his sister Nanami, now serves in a Highland army, in a youth squad, together with his best friend Jowy. Their camp is attacked during the night. The two friends escape and jump down from a high cliff into a river. Soon the two become involved in a political struggle, as several nations seek an alliance against a powerful country led by an insane, bloodthirsty prince. What will destiny bring to the young heroes? What will they achieve in their lives? Will they fight together or will their paths be separate from now on?..

This tale of friendship, faith, war, and betrayal is a sequel to Konami's Suikoden. As in the previous game, the goal it to build an army and participate in a war, defending the lives of the innocents. Once again it is possible to recruit 108 characters (Stars of Destiny), as well as build and customize a castle that serves as headquarters for the army. The main bulk of the gameplay, however, is traditional RPG exploration and character growth. Together with traditional turn-based party combat (up to six active combatants in a party), there are also a few strategic battles, which are quite different from those of the first Suikoden: the player has to move squads on a grid field, trying to surround the enemies and eventually defeat them.

Description

Loosely based on the classic medieval Chinese novel "Water Margins" (Shuihuzhuan) by Shi Nai'an, the game is a fantasy RPG set in an imaginary universe, its main theme being political struggle. The hero of the game is the young son of Theo McDohl, a general who serves the Scarlet Moon Empire, presently controlling the land of Toran. Through a series of events the hero becomes involved in a rebellion against the Empire, led by an organization known as the Liberation Army. Will the hero find a new home there, will he be able to tear himself away from everything that has been sacred to him, including his own father?

Suikoden is a Japanese-style RPG with several unusual additions. There are three kinds of combat in the game, the most common one being the traditional turn-based party combat (players can have up to six people in their active party). Magic runes can be equipped on the player's characters which allow limited usage of offensive and healing spells. There are also a few army battles, where the player must control whole units of fighters, archers, magicians, etc., and one-on-one fights (duels).

The game allows the player to build and customize a castle, which serves as their home base and fortress. 108 characters can be recruited in the game, a tribute to 108 Stars Of Destiny in "Water Margins". Many of those characters will be available as active party members and participate in battles, while others will act as strategy advisers, or enhance the castle itself in various ways.

Description

Chrono Cross is a sequel to the SNES RPG Chrono Trigger.

The main character is Serge, a young boy from a fishing village. One day, while strolling on the sea shore with his sweetheart, Serge suddenly disappears. He comes back to senses several moments later. Everything seems just the same as it was before, but when Serge visits his home village, nobody recognizes him. He hears from people that he has been dead for ten years. Serge begins to realize that he is now in a parallel world. His first and only wish is to find a way to return home, but, in order to do that, he must understand what has caused the existence of parallel words, allowing inter-dimensional travel. His quest will also reveal to him the truth about his own existence, and connect the seemingly unrelated plot of Chrono Cross to that of Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Cross is a Japanese RPG with turn-based battles. There are no random battles; enemies are always visible on screen. There are also no character levels in the game; instead, characters get better stats directly after each battle. During battles, Serge and his party members can perform three kinds of attacks: weak, medium, and strong. Strong attacks tend to miss more frequently. Magical spells are equipped by each character like items, and can be cast only as many times as they are equipped. Actions in battle deplete a certain amount of stamina, which recovers as other characters act.

Chrono Cross features many recruitable characters (up to 40, but not all of them can be recruited in one play-through), several different endings, and the ability to play the game again with the same stats and items from the previous play.

Final Fantasy IX (US) (The Greatest Hits)(PSX)

Description

Final Fantasy IX tells the story of Zidane, the member of a team of theater actors who also happen to be a gang of thieves, and Garnet, the princess of Alexandria. Zidane and his buddies first plan to kidnap Garnet from her mother's palace. But shortly after the kidnapping, they realize the queen of Alexandria is up to something evil. Zidane, the princess, and other characters they encounter on their journey decide to join forces and to find out what can possibly drive the queen to commit her cruel deeds.

The game is set in a medieval environment and generally looks more like the first games of the series than its two immediate predecessors. It utilizes the classic ATB (active time battle) combat system, and revives the class-based gameplay of earlier Final Fantasies - each character belongs to a certain class and uses his/her own unique attacks. Weapons, armor, and accessories allow you to choose and to gradually learn various abilities (magic spells, immunity to certain status changes, etc.) by participating in battles while equipping them.

Returning from Final Fantasy VIII is the card game, now called Tetra Master. Cards are now placed on a 4x4 grid, and can attack other cards on diagonals as well as cardinal directions. Cards no longer have set stats, and instead have a range of values and arrow positions, making every card unique. Regional rule variations are gone, but at the start of every match one to five positions on the grid will be blacked out, changing your offensive and defensive strategies with every game.
